A TIME OF RENEWAL, REVIVAL AND RESTORATION AT THE PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN’S CENTRE, ABOKOBI

By PR Unit / May 21, 2026

The three-day fasting and prayer Pentecost Retreat brought together women, men, youth and the elderly from diverse backgrounds for a life-transforming encounter with God. Anchored on the scriptures Acts 1:8, Acts 2:1 –4 and Luke 24:48–49, the retreat created an atmosphere of worship, prayer, teachings and fellowship that brought spiritual renewal, healing, restoration and empowerment to participants.

The Host Minister and Director of the Presbyterian Women’s Centre, Abokobi Rev. Mrs. Patricia Addy, delivered a transformative message themed “My Identity in Christ, My Authority.”

Key Highlights from the Host Minister’s Message

  • The Pentecost season reminds Christians of the importance of gathering and waiting on God’s presence, just as the disciples waited together in the upper room for the fulfillment of God’s promise (Acts 1:13–14; Acts 2:1–4).
  • The promise of the Holy Spirit is fulfilled in the lives of Christians when they accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Personal Saviour, receiving divine power, authority and purpose through Him.
  • Our identity begins with being created in the image of God, called to reflect His glory and fulfill His divine purpose on earth.
  • Christians must understand both their physical and spiritual/divine identity in Christ and confidently walk in the authority and power given to them through the power of Holy Spirit.
  • Her message encouraged participants to deepen their relationship with God, embrace their spiritual identity in Christ and live boldly through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The retreat also featured inspiring teachings and impactful ministry sessions led by the Guest Speaker, Rev. Dr. Joseph Kofi Aidoo – Minister-in-Charge for PCG Hope Congregation – Adentan District.

Key Highlights from the Guest Speaker’s Message

  • Speaking from Acts 1:7–8, Rev. Dr. Joseph Kofi Aidoo emphasized the importance of Acts 1:7, where Jesus told His disciples, “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority.” He explained that before Christians can experience the power of the Holy Spirit in Acts 1:8, they must first learn to trust in God’s timing and divine process.
  • He stated the importance of waiting on God, explaining that periods of waiting are not moments of abandonment, but opportunities for divine encounters, spiritual growth and empowerment.
  • He encouraged participants not to focus solely on immediate answers or results after days of prayer and fasting, but on how much closer they have grown to Jesus Christ and the transformation taking place in their spiritual lives.
  • Receiving God’s power brings confidence and assurance for the future, declaring that, “Once you receive power from God, tomorrow will take care of itself.
  • The season of waiting teaches patience, obedience and total dependence on God rather than on human understanding.
  • Spiritual empowerment through the Holy Spirit enables Christians to live boldly, overcome fear and become effective witnesses for Christ.

The 2026 Pentecost Retreat ended on a Spirit-filled atmosphere, leaving participants renewed, revived and restored with a deeper sense of purpose and a strengthened relationship with God.

As an institution committed to empowering women, men, youth and children, the Presbyterian Women’s Centre, Abokobi continues to create impactful programmes that strengthen faith, build confidence and promote positive transformation within churches and communities.
