The 2026 Annual Women Ministers’ Workshop was a memorable gathering as women ministers came together to share their experiences in ministry within the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and to celebrate the golden jubilee of 50 years of women’s ordination—a historic decision made at the 47th Synod held in the Brong Ahafo Presbytery in 1976 to allow women to contribute to the growth of the church.

The programme was held at the Presbyterian Women’s Centre, Abokobi, from September 5th to September 10th, 2026. A major highlight of the celebration was the Thanksgiving Service marking the 50th anniversary, which was held at Immanuel Congregation in the Madina District on September 6th, 2026.

The resilience and hard work of these women have contributed enormously to the growth of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. Despite their achievements, women continue to face barriers to some leadership opportunities at the Presbytery level.

As part of the programme, key topics were discussed to strengthen women ministers as they continue their work in ministry. Some of the topics included Women and Mental Health in Ministry, a Symposium on Women’s Ordination in the PCG, and The Importance of the Good Use of social media in the Church.

The discussions emphasized the need for women ministers to make good use of social media to strengthen their media presence for soul winning, evangelism and outreach programmes. The topic on social media was presented by Mr. Daniel Pabby, General Manager of PCG TV.

As the celebration continues and the church looks towards the future, there is hope for the day when the PCG will have its first female Moderator and Clerk of the General Assembly.

Hurray to the amazing women whose resilience, dedication and service continue to contribute to making the Presbyterian Church of Ghana what it is today.
