Completion of Senior High School marks an important turning point in the life of a young person. It is a period filled with excitement about what lies ahead, but also one that comes with new responsibilities, choices and uncertainties. Whether pursuing further education, learning a skill, starting a business or taking a different path, young people need the right information, values and practical life skills to make wise decisions and navigate life after SHS.
The Leadership and Life Skills Development Workshop for Senior High School Graduates is an annual programme organized by the Presbyterian Women’s Centre, Abokobi. The 2026 edition was no exception, as the four-day programme was held from 5th to 8th August, 2026.
Speaking at the programme, the Director of the Centre, Rev. Mrs. Patricia Addy, urged the graduates to seek God first in all their endeavors as they embark on a new journey after secondary school. She noted that the transition to University and other areas of life would present them with new opportunities, responsibilities and challenges, and also encouraged them to remain grounded in their Christian faith and seek God’s guidance in their decisions as they navigate this new chapter of their lives.
The Graduates also had the opportunity to learn how to prepare fresh yoghurt, facilitated by Mrs. Gloria Asante. The practical session was aimed at equipping the graduates with a skill that could serve as a foundation for a small business or income-generating venture while encouraging creativity and an entrepreneurial mindset.
The General Manager of PCG TV, Mr. Daniel Pabby explained that social media can be both beneficial and harmful, depending on how it is used. He encouraged the graduates to use it positively and productively, particularly as a tool for learning, personal development and pursuing further educational opportunities while avoiding risks such as misinformation, cyberbullying, privacy violations, and inappropriate content. He also emphasized the importance of protecting their privacy and building a positive digital footprint.
The programme ended successfully, leaving participants with practical knowledge, encouragement and a broader perspective on the journey ahead.
